What Air Filter MERV Rating Do I Need?

MERV 8 - good for dust, dust mites, mold spores and pollen. Good if you have no pets and low foot traffic in the home.

MERV 10 - filters everything MERV 8 cleans + pet dander. This filter also helps with coughing/sneezing due to increased infiltration. This is our most recommended filter for a typical home.

MERV 13 - filters everything MERV 11 cleans + smoke, smog and bacteria and virus carriers. This filter needs changed often or it will clog up your HVAC system due to the thickness of the filter. This filter rating catches the most particles and is most beneficial for allergy sufferers and protection from bacteria/viruses, but also can constrict airflow quickly if not changed frequently.
